Route Service Technician - Grand Rapids, Michigan

Sunburst Chemicals seeks qualified applicants for the position of Route Service Technician – Grand Rapids, Michigan area. The primary focus is service and reporting for existing customers, working with distributors and direct accounts in the region and organizing and installing new equipment. 

Responsibilities:

  • Service and sell products and systems to customers on your route.
  • Provide counsel to route customers regarding products, equipment and systems.
  • Utilize CRM and QAS reporting.
  • Perform regularly scheduled maintenance for Sunburst dispensers and related equipment.
  • Provide emergency service when required (this includes after hours and weekends).
  • Troubleshoot problems not related to Sunburst equipment and make recommendations to customer to resolve.
  • Prepare for and do new dispenser installations and dispenser upgrades.
  • Assist in building prototypes and special request dispensers.
  • Field inbound technical support calls regarding products, dispensers, installations and applications.
  • Provide feedback on new product field tests.
  • Assist with field communications, technical bulletins and other pertinent technical information.

A qualified applicant should have 2+ years of route service experience.  Must have an excellent driving record, ability to sit, stand, squat, lift 50+ pounds.  Must be self-motivated, have excellent time management and good technical skills to be successful in this position.  Travel (overnights) may be required. Sunburst will supply the vehicle or a vehicle allowance, logo clothing and gas card.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Laundry/Restaurant/Foodservice sales/service industry experience preferred
  • Strong communication, organization, independent and time management skills are required to be successful in this position
  • Ability to communicate well both written and orally
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM
  • This position resides in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area

Customer Order Specialist II

Sunburst Chemicals seeks qualified applicants for the position of Customer Order Specialist II. The primary focus is managing select operational components of Sunburst customers, acting as the point of contact for non-conforming orders related to the customer. Responsible for three major facets of customer operational activity: order management, accounts receivable and issue resolution

Responsibilities:

  • Ordering Processing
    • Manages customer conforming sales orders to ensuring that orders meet Sunburst policies relating to pricing, promotions and order guidelines. This includes closely monitoring and correcting all orders edits and incompletions.
    • Communicate with the Customer, Sales Assistants, Field Sales, Supply Chain, and Accounting to resolve customer disputes related to the order entry and billing functions in a timely and customer-friendly manner, taking a proactive approach to minimizing invoice discrepancies.
    • Communicate with Sales Assistants, Field Sales, Supply Chain and Operations teams to effectively resolve customer issues and to ensure that customer has been taken care of.
    • Create any special paperwork needed for international accounts.
    • Issue/authorize customer chemical RMA’s to ensure that all chemical RMA’s meet Sunburst’s policies.
    • Place customer orders in Sage100 for Dish Machines II
  • Accounts Receivable
    • Consult A/R department regarding accounts on credit hold.
    • Handle inquiries regarding copies of invoices, or open invoices.
  • Account Management
    • Process Owner of customer records and history files in CRM and Sage100.
    • Handle inquiries regarding billing, pricing, credits, returns and other related questions.
    • Provide and formulate resolutions and responses in a timely and accurate manner and provide excellent customer service. Identify and anticipate customer requirements, expectations, and needs.
    • Assist the process owner of all aspects of customer support CIRs when requested.E.Identifies opportunities to improve service levels to internal and external customers.
    • Process any special projects as assigned by Senior Manager. Complete in a timely, professional and accurate manner.
  • Operational Support
    • Provide support to Sales Assistants regarding company policies, procedures, etc. that pertain to customer support as requested and required.
    • Team lead for company phone system.
    • Provide backup assistance for Customer Order Specialists I and III.
    • Maintain accurate job/training procedure and DI’s. Train other COS’s, including cross-training others in Level II responsibilities.
    • Responsible for personal conduct in a manner consistent with company mission, values, code of ethics, policies, and other standards of conduct.
    • Communicate problems or concerns to company leadership on an as-needed basis including recommendations for resolution.

Requirements:

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 2-3 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Works under general supervision; typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
  • Excellent customer service skills that build high levels of customer satisfaction
